Dulkadir Hükümdarı Süleyman Bey'in oğludur. Eniştesi Fatih Sultan Mehmet'in emirnamesiyle kardeşi Şahbudak Bey'in yerine Dulkadirli hükümdarı olmuştur. Beyliğin sekizinci hükümdan olan Şehsuvar Bey ilmi ve şecaati ile tanınmıştır. Kendi adına para bastırmıştır. Hassas ruhlu ve şair tabiatlı bir hükümdardı. Halkı kendisini seviyordu. Kardeş katili sayılan Şahbudak Bey'i halkın istememesi ve Şehsuvar Bey lehine müracaat etmesi üzerine, Fatih'in meşhur Taci Bey kalemiyle gönderdiği beratla Bozoklu Aşireti reisi ve Dulkadir Hükümdan olan Şehsuvar Bey ilk önce tahtı terk etmek istemiyen kardeşi Şahbudak Bey ile uğ raşmak zorunda kaldı. Fatih'in emrine verdiği iki seçkin alayla Elbistanı zaptetti ve burayı hükümet merkezi yaptı. Sonra Şahbudak üzerine yürüyerek onu yendi. Şahbudak tahtını bırakarak Mısır'a kaçtı. Mısır Sultanı Kayıtbay'ın yardımını sağlamaya muvaffak oldu. Fakat Mısır Orduları her defasında Şehsuvar Bey karşısında bozguna uğruyordu. Şehsuvar Bey bir aralık Karaman Hakimi Pir Ahmet Beyle birlikte Osmanlı Hükümetine kafa tutmaya başladı. Fatih, kendisi Karaman üzerine yürüdü. Vezir-i Azam Mahmut Paşa'yı da Şehsuvar Bey üzerine gönderdi. Şehsuvar Bey yenildi, esir edilme si mümkün iken bunu yapmadığı için Fatih veziri azamanı azletti. Mısır Ordularının Şehsuvar Bey karşısında devamlı yenilgiye uğraması Mısır Sultanının ağırına gidiyordu. Fatih'in tarafsız kalması maksadiyle bir murahhas heyetiyle Fatih'e ağır ve kıymetli hediyeler gönderdi. Mısır Hükümetinin Dulkadiriye memleketlerine karşı kafiyen istila fikri olmadığını, yalnız Mısır hükümetine hakaret eden Şehsuvar Bey'in siyaseten tedibi lazım geldiğini, bu tedibe rıza gösterilirse Zülkadriye Memleketlerini tamamiyle Osmanlı idaresine terk edeceğini beyan etti. Fatih bu teklife muvafakat gösterdi. Mısır Sultanı Kayıtbay bir taraftan da Türkmen Beyleri arasına ayırım sokarak Şehsuvar Bey'in muharebe ve müdafaa gücünü sarsmıştı. Bundan sonra Mısır Sultanı kuvvetli bir Mısır Ordusunu Şehsuvar Bey'in üzerine şevketti. Şehsuvar Bey yenildi. Şehsuvar Bey kimsesiz bir halde kaleden kaleye kapanıyordu. Sonunda şahsi hürriyetine ve hayatına dokunulmamak şartiyle teslim olabileceğini Mısır Ordusu Kumandanına bil dirdi. Mısır Kumandanı bu şartlan kabul etti. Fakat sözünde durmadı. Şehsuvar Bey zincire vurularak Mısır'a gönderildi. Kahire'de asılmak suretiyle idam edildi. (1473) Kazığa vurulmak suretiyle öldürüldüğünü söyleyenler de vardır. Şehsuvar Bey idam edildikten sonra Mısır Sultanı Kayıtbay sözünde durmadı. Zülkadriye memleketlerini Osmanlı idaresine ter-kedeceği yerde, bir fermanla ve ikinci defa Şahbudak Bey'i Dulkadir tahtına oturttu. Tag :        |
