Dulkadiroğulları hanedanının beşinci hükümdarı ve Osmanlı Padişahı Fatih Sultan Mehmefin kayın pederidir. İyi bir hükümdar hatırası bırakarak ölen babası Naşir al-Din Mehmet Bey'in yerine 1442 de hükümdar oldu. Halk arasında Şişman Süleyman Bey diye anılan Süleyman Bey, rahatına, zevki safasına, güzel kadınlara ve güzel yemeklere düşkün, güzel at meraklısı bir adamdı. Muharebeden kaçınır, etraf memleketlerle ve halk ile iyi geçinme çareleri arardı. 12 yıl süren hükümdarlığı zamanında o devirde güzellikleriyle şöhret yapan kızları beş prensesten en güzeli olan Sitti Hatunu, Osmanlı hükümdarı Murat II. nin oğlu Veliaht Mehmet (Fatih) ile evlendirmiştir. 1454 de ölmüştür. Süleyman Bey diğer kızını da Memluk Sultanı Meliki Zahir Çakmak'a vermek suretiyle Osmanlılardan sonra Mısır'la da aradaki bağı kuvvetlendirmiştir Tag :        |
